From a pretty young age, stories have been one of the only things that can totally and completely captivate me. In elementary school, I loved assignments that allowed me to do some sort of creative writing. In high school I dove into the world of video productions and fell in love with screenwriting and the creative process of putting a film together. Junior year I had a horribly vile, bully of an English teacher who made me feel like I barely had half a brain and made me question my worth as a writer. But senior year, I had a gem of an English Lit teacher who completely transformed my view of myself as a writer. She, along with an amazing English Comp professor my freshman year of college, are the reasons that I chose to become and English major and start owning my identity as a writer.
All that to say, writing and stories are in my DNA. It’s the only thing I feel like I would actually like to do for a living. I can imagine waking up everything morning in my farmhouse in the country, making a pot of coffee, sitting down at my desk in my pajamas, opening my laptop and drinking mug after mug of coffee with I loose myself in my writing. That’s the kind of life I want to live. It’s screams pure bliss to me. And this blog is just a way for me to try and grab ahold of a little piece of that bliss (just until I can have the whole thing).
Beside my self-proclaimed identity as a writer, I’m a NorCal girl, born and raised. I graduated from Azusa Pacific University with my B.A. in English Writing in May 2015 (so I guess I have a little SoCal in me too!). I can spend days talking about baseball and I will always passionately root for the Oakland Athletics. I’m a dog lover, preferably the larger ones. I drink coffee only slightly less than the Gilmore Girls and I think F.R.I.E.N.D.S is the greatest TV show of all time! I’d much prefer a rainy day of a sunny one and I can eat breakfast for every meal, especially if hash browns are included. I really only listen to country music, but I will KILL on the dance floor no matter what is playing. Traveling has started to become a big priority for me — I want to see the whole world! And in the end I’m just a 24-year-old who is going through a quarter life crisis and I will stop talking about myself like this is a dating website now. (But I am 24 & v v single, just FYI).
My hope is that this blog gives you a little insight into who I am and gives me a platform to express myself creatively in whatever way I please. Hope you like what you see and stay here a while! Happy reading!
